I really like this photo, but I have a problem with the cropped pots. Is it too distracting?

No, the cropped pots don't bother me, but I find the HDR a bit over-done. To me, this image is screaming 'monochrome'. Have you tried a conversion?

how about cropping the pots out totally?

I wouldn't have minded the cropped pots if the crop hadn't also taken off the pigeons legs as well.
