Vancouver Island Sunset
I tried to capture this wicked sunset - and got about 10-15 shots of varying quality. I attached one that captured some decent light - and then another that was right before sundown and probably too dark. A little too much noise in the dark one as well - but I love the colours. Would love to hear your thoughts on how I could have done better.
thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Wow - do the colours ever look different now that I uploaded them. They pop much better in lightroom on my laptop. I see I have some work to do in that area as well :)

Hi dmacneil,
I like both these shots and the sky is really nice in both shots. I prefer shot 1 as the sky is just awesome and really dramatic. In shot 1, I might try dodging (lightening) the water a bit as it seems a bit too dark. The rest looks fine to my eye. Hope that helps - Marko

In terms of the colour looking different from computer to browser, the SRGB setting in photoshop is often the culprit when we save for web. Try NOT checking the SRGB checkbox and see if the colours are more accurate.
-
Marko, I find that if I set my color profile in export in Lightroom to the sRGB for photos I am loading to the web, I do not get the color shifting.
-
I think that that depends on the setting that you captured the image with in camera during exposure. If captured with SRGB as opposed to RGB then yes export with SRGB. My setting for now is set to RGB (greater colour space) and the OP may have the same setting.

Ok, good to know! THanks, Marko.
Both sunsets are very lovely, dmacneil. I actually prefer the second due to the rocks in the foreground.
-
and it may also depend on the colour space you are working with in lightroom/photoshop.
-
love the richness of the sky!

I tried re-exporting in all three colour spaces available - ProPhoto RGB, AdobeRGB and sRGB. None improved the lack of saturation in the reds. The photos pop so much more in lightroom - any other suggestions into what it might be?
thanks for everyone's feedback so far - very much appreciated!
