Wow great colouring Bambi...tat colour combination works in this image IMO.
I don't think the orton is doing it for me however...but hey, that's just me.
Otherwise Love it!!!!
Wow ... I'm torn!!!
Awesome colouring in this. The stark blues are working so very well with those yellows and reds!!! It's very impacting indeed!
I also love the composition! The branch flowing across the bottom and then branching upwards to deliver our eyes among the autumn hues is just superb!
I think the Orton effect is working well here also for me. I usually prefer a little more sharpness in a few places but in this case I can so easily over look it.
For me, this is easily one your best photos I've seen Bambi!
Bambi! Wowzers! Great shot and I'm lovin' it!
thanks Iggy!:D
I like this one too bambi - really nice colours here!
Great work Bambi. Not sure that Orton has really been put to maximum effect here, because like MA says it lacks some areas of sharpness, so it looks more like a gausian blur or similar has been applied. But its the result that matters and what a result!
I'd love to see the original. (OK just seen it in other thread)
thanks everyone. I am just using a GIMP plug in so not sure how to control all aspects. I did a few times until I got the look I liked.
This is some kinds interesting effect and colors here
Well done! Nice compostion and color! what else can yah ask for! :)
Great bright colors. Very nice.
:thankyou:everyone
Very nice choice of an orton-esque image! Kudos!
thanks F8
There are essensially 2 settings on the Gimp Plugin(the only one I've seen available) and that is how much blur(for the soft layer) and layer opacity to blend the 2. Actually I'm not sure if the opacity is a plugin setting. I think you just use the layer opacity slider in the layer window. Anyway it sounds like you've done what I do. Mess around with the settings and pic your fav. The next step is to do some layer masking so you can control which areas are sharper as well as layer opacity.
Thats what the plugin for Gimp does. If it is the only one I have found for gimp, you should see that in Gimp you have 2 layers. You can then change the opacity to change how much of the bottom layer comes through to the image. But it is applied to the whole layer. Layer masking will alloy to even more control to say bring more of the branches though with more focus than the rest of the image.
I'm not too familiar with orton, but I have to agree that the colors in this shot are awesome. Also very nicely composed, I really like how the branch runs through the frame.
