You've blurred out the background perfectly. Without that I'm sure it'd been a boring shot. But look at them now, great work! Sehr gut! ;)
Good work on that 2nd shot ... the timing is hard to get right with flying gulls. Nice job.

Agree with Jimmy. REALLY like the first one. It has a dark moody feeling to it. It is like the bird is heading to uncertainty.
I like the texture treatment for sure. Great pics I don't have much to critique on.
