This is an interesting shot. If if were mine I might consider a closer crop on the left side and a darkening of the left side. I'd also lighten the eye to make it stand out more.

I like this shot...
I've been kicking around the idea of doing something similar with the eye of my wife...
She has tired (newborn) eyes.... I wanted a close up of the eye similar to how yours is framed... I then want overlay a translucient picture of my son in her eye... however... I don't think it will fit a nicely as how you worked the fire..
Great shot though... the overlight area on the flesh beside the eye is a tad distracting to me... but by no means a dealbreaker....
I agree with Marko. It is a great creative shot but the range in lighting is too extreme. The left side needs to be darkened and cropped and the shadow at the right needs to be brightened and a little more transparent.
