Bengal at the Watering Hole

Just curious members....

IF I wanted to eliminate that shiny white blown out 2 inch long specular highlight under the faucet...how would you attack this problem in photoshop or elements?

I would try cloning it or masking it from another matching tone on the sink. Or try, Im not that good at PS so my first step would have been closing the curtain on the WINDOW! :-) Really though, thats what I would try, but I doubt it would work.

An excellent imge, specular highlight notwithstanding and really it does not bother me one bit.

back again. I agree with JAS? Raven? well, it didnt bother me until you said something. Not really a distraction to me, but we are our own hardest critics.

I was hoping that someone might actually take a stab and edit this image (it's ok for this image) to fix/burn/clone that specular highlight away. More as a test and to see other member's techniques.

If may be too difficult a test tho...

I am an admitted Photoshop simpleton, so it's best left out of my hands.

but it's really not that bad for a snapshot...the focus really goes to the cat and the dripping water, not there initially. Sometimes these things just come with the territory and this one doesn't spoil the photo.

I accept that most of you think the highlight is just fine and that this is a decent pic - thx. ........

It's more of an exercise than anything else. I tried to get rid of that highlight but did a very mediocre job...............so I'm wondering if any member can teach me their technique to tackle this problem.

I spontaneously took a stab at it. I only spent around 8 minutes on it so it's not the cleanest result. But maybe this can be of inspirational help ;)

I basically first puckered the highlight in liquify, so to make them smaller.

Then I cloned the remainders out and smudged it to give the sink its suggested outline. Then blurred it to get rid of obvious seams. You can get away with quite a lot of blurring, because it's out of focus anyway.

Also the strong subject with minimal DoF helps to capture the attention and draw the eyes away from the edits. Of course if you know what you look for, you'll immediately see what I've done especially the sloppy work on the faucet.
