Hi Merman,
These are cute but there are a few basic problems in these shots. You should also know that pets are hard to shoot well.
Here are a few things to be aware of
1 - The eyes should always be tack sharp
2 - Be aware of bright coloured elements in the scene that distarct the viewer from the main subject.
3 -Make sure you can clearly see the face by adding light when needed.
Hope that helps,
Marko
what sort of things can i do to bring the eyes out better?
When you focus, make sure you focus on the eyes. The best eyes in this series is shot 1, but the eyes are not tack sharp.Quote:

Make sure there is enough light in the face and in the eyes. Sometimes you'll need to bring the subject closer to the light source, sometimes use a reflector etc.
Hope that helps,
P.S. - I sent you a private message merman.
Thx,
marko
interesting,
when you say light source do you mean just a flash, or could i use a constant light on the subject?
thank you again for the help!
i replied to your PM
WHICH light source is up to you and what you want to achieve. It could be flash, constant light source or reflector. Each one will give you something different and light the face in a different way depending on the intensity, quality (hard-soft) and the angle of the light.Quote:

That's where the 'art' comes in.
Best!
Marko
i see, i will definetly do some light source experimenting this weekend, cause as i found out the little kitten does not like the flash to much, the cut on my forehead proves that lol
lol - too funny merman. the dangers of being a wildlife photographer... :D
