They're two different moods, and I like them both. The first puts a real focus on the pine cone. In the second, your eye is led from the main one to the one peeking above the needles to the right.

Nope ... I'm sticking with the original. And I mean the original from this thread http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f2/pine-cone-9004.html
I can see the thinking here and do think it's sound ... but this crop has lost that immediate sensation I got of tippy toe'ing up to see over the branch that the original gave me.
This one has actually made too much of a feature of the pine cones I think whereas the original allowed the depth of the tree and bokeh to be just as important.
To be honest Marko, I don't see the point. Normally I'd crop things when I want to remove elements I don't want in the frame. Or if I want to draw extra attention to a subject by making it bigger inside the frame. But in this case I fail to see what's been added by cropping. Can you please tell me why you think this crop adds to the picture. :)Quote:

The branches on the left and right lead your eye to the pine cone in the centre. We've kept the beautiful bokeh in the background. I do wish I had a smidgen more foreground to work with but generally this is my kind of shot.
