Moment of Silence
Got to thinking this morning I should take the camera to the ceremony tomorrow..but got to thinking, is it okay to take photos during the moment of silence?
I don't know if I'm comfortable with it either way but was wondering what everyone's thoughts were.

Good question. I'm not really sure if there is a right answer. My thought would be that as long as you are not in and out all over the place and becoming a distraction to the ceremony it is probably OK. Moments like these need to be remembered.

A camera clicking will draw very little attention I think. Used with discretion and from a distance, I doubt anyone would object too strenuously. It's never completely silent anyway. If you really feel uncomfortable about getting a shot or two during that time, just don't do it. If there's something extremely worthy of a photo during that short time, I'd quietly do it. The least bit of wind or a sneeze and nobody will be any wiser.

Outta sight , outta mind.

thanks for asking Kat, I've been wondering the same thing.

Your there to document an event, aren't you? If you don't photograph that moment of silence who is going to know that this moment
occured?

Go ahead, take the shots. It's not unlike taking images at a funeral, or at a wedding. There will be people who think it is disrespectful, and others won't care. You cannot please everyone; as long as you do not deliberately offend anyone I think it should be just fine.
