marko's work
hey marko,
i was just poking around the 'fine art photographers' section, and took a peek at your work. i love it! the clay statues are fantastic - what a wonderful idea. i had a couple questions, and thought i'd ask publicly... one, where did you find the modern day wiccans? and two, how do you do the hand-painted photography? i found those to be my favorites...

Thanks for the compliment!
The moderm Wiccan shot was taken on Halloween night in Salem Massachussets a number of years ago. Thousands of people (Wiccans and non-Wiccans) descend upon Salem every Halloween because of salem's connection with Witches. It is an AMAZING gathering.
The hand coloured images were done old school. They were printed by enlarger and painted with Marshall oils directly onto the print. I did a bit of reasearch last year and did not find 1 inkjet paper that worked well with those oils. What does still work is if a pro lab prints for you - they MAY still print (depending on the lab) on paper that accepts the oils. Handpainted photography is one of my most favorite types of 'alternative' photography.
Hope that helps,
marko

very interesting! thanks. im not sure if youre a big 'reader' or not, but my favorite fiction books are Diana Gabaldons Outlander Series. there are some references in it to pagan rituals and wiccan type gatherings, etc. im sure the author would love your photos!
since im so new to this whole photography business, ive never seem handpainted work before. i think its fantastic - so calm and beatiful, especially how youve composed it.

Thanks I appreciate that. They are one of my faves to do. Each photograph takes hours to paint depending on size and complexity..and you get attached to them after you paint them and have them hang around for a while.
I'd love to find an inkjet paper that accepts the marshalls - for all I know something is out there already...Hey does anyone reading this know? :D :goodvibes
But there are MANY MANY great handpainted photographs and photographers out there - just do a quick search. They have many different styles and use different media (Watercolours - coloured pensils, crayon etc) directly on the print.
Best!
