Hi everyone,

I'd been wondering what Top Light was exactly. Thanks for the great example.
Top light is any light from the top.
In this case it's from the top-back, and it has created a striking image for sure. Well done!
This isnt what I was planning for this assignment, but when I saw this scene I thought of AT's photo above and thought that perhaps crepuscular rays may also fit?

yup works great! everything works here!
I call this type of light God light, but you can use your fancy science. I bet you even use zippers in your parts. :)
What is this god of which you speak? Just showing my rationalist ,scientific bent (although I had the check the spelling of crepuscular)
No, I only have zippers in my pants - definitely not in my parts :)
really dig the portrait AT.
Mbrager, excellent example and cool image
fun additions AT - really dig the shadows and sun in shot 2
This was suppose to be my entry into the “Top Light” a month or so back, but I was working twelve a day on the road and living in a motel room. Pretty hard to get motivated in a $2 room after a long day in the salt mines.
I took a piece of expanded metal 2' wide X 3' long and covered it with a red gel and a white back. I fashioned a tunnel of sorts in the long direction to cover the three stainless spheres. Made everything in the room as black as I could and shot it top light at f/16 for 10 sec, iso 125, and a focal length of 300mm.
I'm gonna tuck it away in here just because it cost me a few bucks to make it. :)

Opps! Seems as though photobucket has a policy change.
not seeing the image....
Yes, Photobucket started about a month ago trying to charge people $10 a month to share images on the internet. I'm in the same boat, need to find a new on line imaging host. I don't want to use my Flickr. There is something called Imgur, I'm going to look into them. I used Photobucket to save phone images and funny images/gifs off the Internet.
Attachment 21188OK, then. You and me both.
REALLY dig this image!!! thx for reposting it.
need? no.
