Border Collie, I had one of these dogs (till he died) it was a fantastic pet, very clever, very loving and spent every waking moment trying to eat our cat. which would have been nice, I'm allergic to cats lol.
The cat wasn't a normal cat though either, He really didn't care about the dog, the dog on several occasions cornered the cat, and the cat just smacked him in the nose a few times which made the dog leave him alone lol. Cat just used to walk around as if he owned the place (like they do) which annoyed the hell outta the dog heh.
I did have another dog after that, but i'd mark him as the worst ever dog to have.. he was a lurcher/greyhound cross I think.. but he destroyed my house lol. on the first day we had him he ripped down the curtains, pulled the curtain pole off the wall leaving a gaping hole in the wall, smashed several vases and ate part of my sofa..
then on day 2..
he destroyed my back door, toilet door, the freezer door and most of the freezers contents..
I gave up on him a few weeks later when I didn't have much left in my house that wasn't destroyed lol.
My favourite breed is an airedale, and this is my second. Very smart. You can give instructions in sentences. "You've had enough snacks. Go away and lie down." My dog stopped begging and went off to lie down. They don't shed dog hair which is great and they will follow you around outside without a leash and lie down close by if you are gardening or up a ladder. They seldom bark, unless someone comes close that they do not recognize.

For me it's like favourite foods - can't have just one.
Some breeds that i love include great Danes, bulldogs, weimariners, dobermans...I'm partial to the bigger dogs...except bulldogs - they are just too cool.
i love terriers & shelties
my husband wants a doberman. i've always liked little dogs, but after a weekend at the dog park i think i could love a big dog.
that is a good idea. i like a dog that doesn't shed.
i just looked at some airedale pictures online. i'm going to talk to my husband about it. I love how smart terriers are. my dog (that stayed with my mom when i went off to college) is a terrier. you can also give her comands in sentences. it's unreal how smart she is.
at christmas she waits her turn & then opens a present. we go in a circle with everyone opening one at a time. you don't have to prompt her. she knows when it's her turn.
i'm so excited to go home in a few months & do a portrait session with her. i could never capture her cuteness with a point & shoot.
do you have pictures of your dog online?
