What says Stampede more then setting up a band on the flatbed of a semi at 7:00 a.m. and serving breakfast to about one thousand bleary eyed restaurant workers?

I love country music :)
So ... what's Stampede thing?? I'm gathering it's some annual festival or something?
Calling it a festival, well that's a tad too citified. It is billed as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and the Rodeo is one of the biggest in North America. As well there is a midway on the Stampede grounds, major performers such as Bon Jovi and Kid Rock are also here. The official kick off begins with the Stampede Parade: YouTube - 2010 Calgary Stampede Parade
About 300 thousand people lined the streets to watch it this year. Prior to the start of the parade the Snowbirds buzz the city with their amazing flying formations.
Every morning is a major free pancake breakfast at one venue or another. Not much work gets done in those big office towers. The ten days are spent entertaining clients or guests. Everyone participates. Even the young urbanite can be seen sporting long shorts (or short skirts for a girl), t-shirt with cowboy boots and hats. Even if you never make it to the grounds or to a single rodeo event, you will still see the party spirit going on all over the city.
You'd think I'd have heard of something like that. But I hadn't. You guys seem to have a lot of festivals etc.
Cool shot jas!
Thanks, Marko!
This weekend is folkfest, M.A. I have had my tickets since May. :) There is pretty much something going on every weekend all summer but really our summer is so short, you gotta get it all in while you can.
