Time for another profile picture update...

I always struggle with sportraits, mostly because I don't like having my photo taken, and also they always seem harder to do then photographing someone else.

I did this with the camera tethered to lightroom, and then used a 2 sec delayed shutter (I didn't want a remote in my hands.)

The room space was very tight, meaning I couldn't get much distance between me and the background.This made it quite challenging trying to stop light spilling out from the soft box and flooding the background. I imagine a grid would be useful in these situations.

I really like how you lit this one Richard, very punchy light and some drama all at once - well made!!

Very nicely done, Richard. I really like the "punchy light", as Ed calls it. Though I'm not a fan of the blown highlight on your forehead if you don't mind me saying. I also like that you are using the Yongnuo flashes with such excellent results. It encourages me to make more use of mine.

I 100% that self portraits are harder than regular ones.

Nice and punchy for sure Richard and thanks as always for sharing the lighting recipe - it's so useful to others.

The blown out area is an annoyance... I'm a big fan of the Yongnuo flashes, If I'm not shooting with ETTL (which is most of the time) then I'll normally stick a Yongnuo on a light stand before I get out a canon. (The audio ready signal is very useful, and because they are cheaper I don't mind putting them in more volatile locations).

I'm interested in Canons new line up which they announced yesterday, their wireless flash system looks very tasty, but a bit to expensive.
