I just love negative space. In this case I wanted to create a feeling of isolation. That was actually the case with this man. This was a room hosting an exhibit by Yoko Ono. He was isolated and lost in the listening process of this strange exhibit.
Yes nice light indeed. I too like the negative space, and would actually consider cloning out the line cutting through his shoulders.
Your decision was an excellent one as that was the message I got when I saw the image. I'm just getting much more curious about the things photographers are choosing to leave out or leave in their images and the motivation behind the composition.
