This one was tough, First I had to run with f8 on that one to keep the depth of field wide enough to catch the face and the wings in focus but of course that made the background too sharp. Then getting the flash heads set correctly so enough light passed through the wings to light the face but not to blow out the details in the wings was also hard. I couldn't light the face directly from her front because there was a wall 1 foot outside the frame on the right hand side, so I ended up running 2 flash's for the wings and face, 1 set higher than the camera set to 1/2 power and 1 almost at floor level pointing up set to 1/16 power.
This was actually a shoot at a costume party at a bar, so I had limited space.
As you can see (Ignore my pouty wife) other than 4 feet in front of where I am shooting I was setup in a corner and about 3 inches outside of the frame were walls. I hate getting squished like that!!
I do agree though and in retrospect I should have done a few closeup shots. Not sure why I didn't other than it was probably 1:00 am by the time this one was shot. I ink this is one of those images that needs additional post work, but I didn't get paid enough to do that, so they get what they get.![]()
