Beauty Destroyed

Such a beautiful peaceful place just a few miles north of us. Has some wonderful cliffs, a sand beach, and surrounded by bush everywhere.........

.....too bad "THIS" is just around the bend off the right side of the first pic. What you are seeing is where some young people deliberately set a fire ablaze and endangered 1,000's of lives and destroyed approx. 5,000 acres of wilderness/wildlife. This is the exact place this wildfire started. (if you look closely above the rock in centre of pic, you will see the orange tape marking the crime scene).

Having previously lived in a bushfire (wildffire) region and having seen the damage they cause, it is tragic to see this .

Are the penalties in Canada very tough for deliberately lighting wildfires? Over here penalities have recently been increased (up to life imprisonment in some cases for arson - or even 20 years for "Intending to cause or recklessly indifferent as to causing a bushfire")

I used to live in Thunder Bay and travelled the entire northwest for work - saw way to much of this.

What a shame. It's bad enough having fires from lightning or people just being careless. It's unbelievable that people would actually deliberately set a fire. I hope our laws are tough on those that would do this.
