Great scene. I remember the big difference between light and dark in these canals make the exposure pretty tricky. You have saved it well.

Funny thing is, all my FB friends and my wife just went crazy over this photo, and I really don't care for it. Something about the exposure doesn't sit right with me. I've tried to rework it several times and it just doesn't do it for me.
As I said it is a great scene, so understand why people like it.
From a technical point of view (and you may have got this from my wording of my comment above) I could tell the exposure was tricky and didnt quite work. In retrospect it may have been a good HDR candidate
This photo caught my attention immediately, of all the photos you have posted from your trip. I like the framing of the beautifully colored water and colored buildings in the background by the washed out foreground buildings, which show a lot of detail, brick by brick. A great leading lines shot. But looking up at the sky, it is overexposed and less attractive than the rest. Still, it's essential Venice. I am enjoying all the shots you have shared. Thanks.
