Henley Beach

This summer I have had a number of occasions when I have been near the beach at around sunset, and have had to fill in time. That is when the camera comes out.

These are a few from last night.

Sorry if these are a bit cliché or get a little repetitive.

I like the whole set but the last one wins it for me.
Beautiful colour and exposure, lovely comp, with an excellent sense scale .

I like the first one. Nice rule of thirds composition. Very difficult exposure right into the sun. I think you got it perfectly. Perhaps with a filter? Makes me squint looking into the bright sun. Just like if I was there.

Marko - I wondered if the guy in the last shot was just too small too small and if people would notice him. It was this sense of scale that appealed to me about the shot.

MB - No filter but by lowering the "highlights" in LR it really made the colour pop. I also was using a telephoto zoom and concentrated on the narrow and most orange portion of the sky. A little increase in vibrance/saturation but not much. My biggest job was in Photoshop getting rid of the lens flare (actually I have only just realised that I have posted a version of the photo where I wasnt happy with the job I did on the lens flare :headslap:).

That definitely looks a lot warmer (and more inviting) than the weather we've been getting. I'm in the warm part of the country and we had temperatures in the -20s C (-35C windchill). Other parts of Canada (and Northern USA) were getting temperatures in the -40s C (windchill in the -50s C). As a result any of your images looks good to us.

I really like the last shot. I don't think the person is too small at all. I had no problem noticing him, in fact that's what I really liked about this pic.

Yep quite a bit difference in weather. Not sure how inviting you would find it though. Last week we had 47.7 C (that is in the shade - there were reports of much higher in the sun) - the hottest ever recorded temperature for any Australian capital city. We are also not far away from the longest ever recorded streak with no rain (record is currently 69 days). Amazing to think - something like a 100 degree difference in our temperatures
