This is pretty much my thoughts as well.

No doubt about Nikon striding ahead of Canon in the ISO noise department at present.

Simply stated, I let the camera set the iso, I was using the S setting and only trying to see what shutter speed would do for me. I have just returned to shooting a "systems" camera after a 30 year hiatus with the purchase of a D5000 this past christmas.

As I have stated in other posts - I have a long way to go and hoped participating in this forum would help me make up for lost time (with regards to cameras and technology) - and so far the constructive criticism I have recieved has been a great help (even though some shots may not show it).
