As Bambi said, love the bokeh in the background. Is this actually a chestnut bud? Mine are still closed up right tight.
Thanks ladies....I believe it it a mayflower tree...when it gets it's blossoms the fragrance is amazing!...I can hardly wait as it is right next door to my condo so I get to walk by it every day! :clap:
Yes, definitely one of the most fragrant spring blossoms. Even though they are considered a pest by most farmers around here.:shrug:
Yes, the wild Mayflower tree, aka-Hawthorn, can be invasive as it readily seeds itself in low traffic pastures, and also has large thorns covering the entire tree. There are 100's of this species though, so yours is probably a hybrid ornamental species.
There is a two acre field down beside the river not far from here that is just that, all Mayflower trees. Beautiful in the spring, and the Shrikes love them. They build their nests in them and use the thorns to hold their prey.
