Default Winner Chosen - November 2009 - Admin's choice - Images of the month

    Hi members,

In case you are new around here this is where the Admin (me) chooses one excellent photo each month from all the photos nominated by other members during that month in the Member's monthly choice forum.

This is only the second time this has happened but this month was just too difficult for me to choose just one image...so I am choosing 2 images.

    This month's choices therefore are
The Phodographer by jumpinjimmyjava and Ice Age by casil403

I chose jumpinjimmyjava's Phodographer shot beacuse I really like the concept and execution. This shot has excellent composition and I love the position of the dog. The focal points (the eye and the camera) are really well done here and my eye is beautifully guided. The shot is also humourous and busting with cuteness. The treatment (post-processing) here is extremely well done. I really like the scratches, deliberate dustmarks and tone of the image that give it (along with the older film camera on the dog's neck) a nostalgic feel.

I chose casil's ice age shot (and casil DID have an awesome month btw) because it struck me hard when I saw it. It is technically very well done, the colour pops, exposure is well handled and it has good composition that guides my eye. I also like the thinking/concept (of being frozen in time) behind this shot and I find the execution to achieve the concept very successful.

For all these reasons, these were my choices for image of the month.

Since we all have opinions, some members may disagree with my choice. That's cool but THIS thread is not the place for debate over my pick, NOR is it the place to further critique the image. The purpose here is to suggest strong elements in the photo that we may learn from.

Congrats again jumpinjimmyjava and casil403 for creating these beautiful images!

    no arguments from me!
In fact, I'm not sure how you could pick just one from the images of Casil and JJJ this month at all!
