    Default Eagles in the Tree

Took a drive out to Sheffield Mills in Nova Scotia to see if I could get lucky shooting some eagles. I really needed to be more patient. I stayed for an hour and a half and all I got was this shot of them really far away in the trees. They were still fun to see. Next time I go I plan to spend the day and get one or two decent shots.

Thats cool Iggy, four matures in one roost! Sounds like you have a real treasure trove for baldies out there, and yes, patience is definitely a virtue for these sometime elusive creatures. Hope you get back soon to spend some time and share some more pics with us, as I never tire of these majestic beauties.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

I hardly ever see raptors up close here ... all these eagle shots amaze me ... especially when I see them partying it up in the same tree!!

Thanks. The trees were full of them. A couple of hundred meters to the right of this tree was another one with 8 or 9 of them in it. I wish my schedule had been such that I could have stuck around. Apparently, within an hour or two after I left the fun began. Here's a couple some people from my local photo club got:

I just did the math and this group of eagles were about 362 meters away. Generally, they feed them within about 125 meters of the photographers.

They feed them? No wonder you guys get your eagles in close! We'd get shot if we fed ours.

Yeah, apparently, the local chicken farms have decided to "donate" their dead chickens to the feeding of them. The farmers show up with buckets of dead chickens and pour them out in the field. 70 to 80 photographers sit around and wait for the eating to begin. Last year I hear there was a feeding frenzy of about 75 eagles.
