Grizzly Bear - Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Canada

Finding and photographing Grizzly Bears in the lower Rocky Mountains can be challenging. They are not as easy to find as Black Bears and prefer to keep to higher elevations. During Spring and Fall they can be found in lower elevations foraging for food. Just because you see a bear doesn’t mean you will get a good photograph of it. You have to be at the right place at the right time, and I find myself waiting for hours for them to move into the right place. Usually the bear has something else on its mind, and doesn't want to be photographed. When this happens just enjoy the special moment instead of forcing the bear to move to get a photo which will actually scare it off. This bear walked one end of the valley to the other and I kept quiet and still not to scare the bear. He landed up walking straight towards me before going off into the bushes. All in all took over two hours.

Welcome to the forum, Jorel (was Mom and Dad a Superman fan?)

This is an awesome shot. I can't believe you were that close to a grizzly. Can I ask you to do me a favour. Add a bit more contrast and take a look at the result. Do you like it more? I love the shot but the darks don't seem dark enough to me. I hope you don't mind the comment.

Haha, no I believe I was born prior to when the Superman movies become popular. Unfortunately even adding any contrast makes the darks too dark.
