    These are excellent, well lit and well focused with nicely blurred backgrounds. What lens are you using? They don't quite seem like macro lens shots.

    Thanks Marko & MB.

    They are tricky guys to photograph, as they were very active and not a bit laconic like they can be sometimes. Still I find the process of shooting bees somewhat therapeutic as I am concentrating and also have to be patient, so it becomes quite absorbing.

    I find it takes a lot of experimentation to get the right camera settings in these situations.

    Good eye MB . I took quite a few with my macro lens but I was getting better results using my 70-200 zoom with an extension tube. These are all taken with the 70-200. All have a fairly severe crop (thus the tricky balance of keeping the iso as low as possible, while still trying to have a small aperture and fast shutter speed). This is one of the few situations where I shoot full manual.

    Nice detail. I really need to take my 70-200 out more.
