Ducks got eyelids!

This is a discussion on Ducks got eyelids! within the Animals (mammals, birds, insects etc.) forums, part of the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) category; I've seen them on geese, too, just haven't managed to get a photo....

    I've seen them on geese, too, just haven't managed to get a photo.

    I have seen them on geese, perfect round white patches when their eyes are closed. I always figured it was to fool predators into thinking they're awake but that's just my guess

    Don't they have an inner protective eyelid? I gotta go google this.

    These are the patches I'm referring to. It kind of makes them look awake when they sleep

    Sorry, Michael still can not see any of your photos. Her we go though- birds have three eyelids.

    It can be slow loading for me too MA and as usual my web host people are sleeping or hunting for eggs. The images show up but sometimes it takes a while. If it keeps up I'll be dumping "host Papa" and go back to POWWEB!

    Sorry, Michael, but I tried three browsers and my Blackberry and nothing.

    QuietOne, birds are cool, huh? The more you photograph them, the more stuff you start to know about them. OK, I live with a couple of birds so I am prejusticed.
