Here are some images I took today at the Harvey Passage. This used to be where the weir was; but City Council decided to eliminate the weir for the most part, and install a rapid water course for kayakers and rafters. Too many people had lost their lives getting caught in the revolving waters of the weir. Now we had some rain ....

here is a 22 image pano taken from a footbridge leading from the Max Bell arena to the pathways by the river. I am looking mainly downstream, with the Deerfoot Trail to the far left; then I pan towards the city core. The pano after will show the railroad bridge you can see in here in more detail. Usually ther are at least 8 to 10 feet of space between the underside of the bridge to the top of the water. Now there are possibly less than 2 feet. As per ususal, clicking on the pano will get you to the original.

You'll see the railroad bridge in the background. I suppose these bikers did not want to try and ride the trail towards me ... it is slightly flooded



This is what was left of the weir after construction. It is used as a fish ladder to some extend, but right now it is rather dangerous



Whether this tree came from Canmore we are not sure .. but it is pretty tall ... it was amongst the things we saw floating by, other than drums, barrels and a chest of drawers ....



Taken through the fence, this is really angry water



And this in comparison is a very calm Deerfoot Trail (main North/South artery through Calgary - also called the "deadfoot trail" because of the many accidents. This was taken applying my new 10 stop ND filter ...
