Close-up Filters

As I was saying, I got these close-up filters from my Great Uncle. He was into photography in a minor way. Since he has moved into assisted living, he has been sorting through his stuff. I got two sets of closeup filters. One set of 52mm and a set of 55mm. A 49to52mm step up ring. An old Canon 133A Speedlight flash. Anyways, the close-up filters did not work well on the 55mm lens, and do not fit my 300, but work great on the 80-200. It is a great way to get into macro if your on a really cheap budget. The ones I just got are probably close to 30 years old, but they still work. All I had to do was clean the glass. They were kept in their cases so there were no scratches on them. Here are a couple of pictures used with them.
On top of the lens, in this order, there is a UV filter, step up ring, close-up filter 1, and close-up filter 2. I would highly recommend using manual focus as it messes things up a bit. I pulled out an old Canadian Penny and Australian Penny for your viewing pleasure. These are 100% picture and no crop at all. They have only been resized and uploaded through the website. Check them out. Again, its a cheap way for you to get into macro if you dont have the cash for a macro lens.

MA, its still not quite spring here yet. The tulips have started coming through, but the bugs still have not woken up yet. Ill be sure to try and get a few insects for you when they do come back out. In the meantime, Ive got some other things in mind with it.....

Now JJ what have we told you about nude shots!!! Just because you now have macro capabilities doesn't mean we need to see proof of who you are little man!

I bought a set (Hoya) about a month ago and I love them...way cheaper than a macro lens...I've used them on all my macro shots. Good for what I need them for right now anyhow. I think it cost me about $55 more or less Canadian for 3 lenses...

MA, sorry I could not get any bugs, its still a little cold for them but I do have some others taken in the field. These two were taken with two close-up filters on. This is also at maximum focal length. So, 200mm with two close-up filters.
