    here is a shot of the athabasca river. keep in mind I am using a point and shoot so the quality is poor. Also I am new to photography.

    Default Old Building

    here is another picture i took today of an older building just down the street from me. Felt right to take the picture in black and white. cant wait to get the rebel so I can take some better shots.

    Nice images; remember however, that the camera only records the images. You compose them. Having a better camera doesn't automatically mean better images. That said, there's lots of knowledge and experience here that will help you get there.

    very true! I remember today looking at that building thinking that maybe I should kneel down and take the shot or even lay down. The thought of people driving past thinking i was nuts stopped me haha. I guess I need to see past that if I want to improve my pictures and composition.

    Hey Ben997,

    Both of these are interesting shots and both could be improved with some post processing work. Since this is not the critique forum, I'll stop there.

    I think your instinct was right for the b/w shot.

    Speaking as someone who once lay down in Lombard Street (The crookedest street in San Francisco) to get pictures of the cars as they negotiated the extreme curves, I've long ago given up even caring about what people think when I'm trying to get 'that picture'!

    Yes I used to have photo shop, but was no good with that program. Yesterday I downloaded the trial for paint shop Pro so hopefully that will be a bit easier to do some editing. Thanks for the help guys
