    Question Winter and Cameras

Now that it is winter for most of us Canadians, do people take extra precaution transporting their camera and lenses from inside their warm houses to out in the frigid, (and I mean frigid....-42 here last winter!), winter to avoid moisture from getting into your camera/lenses?

I have hear a few podcasts where people take their bag out, wait about 10mins so the air temp inside the bag and outside the bag match before taking the camera out, and vice versa.

I actually never thought of this, but it makes sense.

Does anyone have a different method?

I like to do all my winter outdoor shooting from the comfort of a heated hut so I have no idea.

Just kidding, I do just about the same thing

I usually have my bag outside as I get ready or if I'm walking I don't bother. Make sure to have plenty of extra batteries if you are going for a while. Keep them close to your body. I usually have them in my pants which are covered by my snow pants and jacket.

I try not to breath too much on the camera (my little fear).

Coming back in. I don't touch my camera (take it out of it's bag) for the rest of the day. So far no problems.

Seems like a pretty sensible approach.

I've never done anything special taking my camera out but I always have a big ziplock baggie to put the camera in before coming back inside.
