    Wow! wow! wow!
That's an interesting move, and a nice surprise.

Medium format in a smallish, affordable-ish camera. Good stuff.

As a Pentaxian, this is great news. A lot of Pentax fans have been hoping for this. When this hits the market, it'll be a battlefield...

It's a deathblow to the Leica S2, which has an almost similar sensor. So much for Leica storming the mid format market. They'll sell, if only for the red dot, but by far not as much as expected.

Canon and Nikon will have to seriously lower their prices for the 1Ds / D3x series if they don't want to go head to head with midformat. Which isn't a fair battle by a long shot.

If everything goes right, this is a big thing for Pentax. Finally establishing the brand as a serious compeditor in the pro market. I'm a happy man right now, even if there's just no way I can afford this camera...

    Yay Pentax....!!!
My only question is what does one do with40mp?
Here's what i pulled off the Pentax site on it:

Speaking from experience...the in camera HDR merge function is highly overrated and gimmicky....IMO they should dump it.

I thought this was only going to be available to the Japanese market. I always liked the 645 format, Bronica ETR was nice as well.
