    Default First Attempt with HDR

    Hey Everyone,

I really appreciated all the great comments from my first posting so I thought I would post another picture of mine. This is my first attempt in doing a HDR photo.

    Cheers,
    Garvin

Well I guess I will be first up (Keep in mind I am not an HDR expert either....just following my eye, so take with a grain of salt)

Personally, for an HDR, I find it a tad dark. Part that strikes me though is how bright the tractor's rims look in comparison to the rest of the shot. I'd almost be led to suspect that it was a flash shot at the tractor.

I like the subject, but just the way it presents it almost seems like a composite since the tractor light varies from the rest just enough to make it look like it was not taken at the same time.

That being said, HDR processing can react a little odd sometimes to different light levels and colors......so my thoughts might not count for much.

Overall though, it has potential to be a really nice shot with a bit of twaeking.

I generally don't do HDR either, however, I am in agreement with John's assessment. The tractor looks like it was photographed almost at midday with the brightness of the tires and rims, etc. The snow, however, looks like it was shot very late in the evening. This is a case of tone balancing if I understand the process correctly. You've got the right idea as I can't really tell that this is an HDR shot other than what looks like a bit of halo around the trees.

I don't know what to tell you to make it better but I think you need another try. The difference in the light balance between the tractor and the rest of the image is a bit jarring.
