How is that political correctness? More like stodgy narrow mindedness. How can the teacher censor it?
It don't matter because she would be the judge and not select it. Teachers judge these things, not photographers, so some cute image of a puppy dog wins every year. Even the max size requirements is wrong. The photo can only be 8x10, not 8x12. I've tried to tell them most people shoot in 3:2 ratio, but they are two dumb to understand.
I thought the toilet image is a great juxtaposition photo, but they have no idea what that is.

I would crop it the second one more tighter to make it only about umbrellas.
