An image I quite like to be honest but it never got a single comment anywhere I've posted it. Can you give me some feedback as to why this is ho-hum material if indeed it is

Not sure what to say here. I can understand why it might not be so well liked. There really isnt anything in the image to really give me that WOW factor. It is a good image, and when you concentrate on the motion, you can get an idea of how the people feel. Outside of that, nothing else really going on I guess. Just my thoughts.

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!
tough call. I think perhaps it's the lack of vibrant colour that the shadows have stolen. You've managed to show shadow but failed to show the shadow ... if you know what I mean. It lacks dynamic range there.
The slow shutter speed has made it look brighter than the scene really was. This has caught a little movement but stolen the night time/ late arvo feel. This has made the lights less impacting I guess. Higher f-stop (or lower ISO) and slower shutter speed might have been better?
Composition wise it's ok for a portrait image but as JJ says ... no real wow factor there.
Having said all that, it not a bad image in any shape or form.
I actually got a bit dizzy from looking at the picture (never happened before). It's a fun sort of shot, but like JJ and MA have said, there's nothing in it to make it 'pop.' I very much agree on the lack of vibrant colour MA mentioned.![]()

Actually I quite like it. I would have been happy to have taken it. I like how the stationary bits are sharp, and they kind of pop out of the image, while the moving bits have a real sense of motion. For me the light pole is a bit of a distraction, and maybe a step to the left and forward would have benefit the image compositionally, but then I like where the steps are as it is the entry point to the ride.

I have to agree with Antz. The light pole is the major detracting element IMO and I do not care for the 'Do not sit on the stairs' signs much either. Knowing, your sense of the absurd (well somewhat) I am thinking maybe you like that though. Lol.
Personally, I like the color but maybe the gray of the stairway detracts from it somewhat?
