Beach Kiss - Beach Shadows

As contrary as it sounds, the essential aspect of good silhouette or shadow photos is sharp edges and great detail. This is missing in the kiss shot. A better angle with more detail in the facial profiles, as well as avoiding the complete merging of the face shadows would help.

The other shot compositionally is too tight at the left and top with a partial foot and sandal too close to the edge of the frame.

Wow tough crowd. LOL - I did ask, and I appreciate and agree with some of the criticism. I find it's really hard to be objective about one's own work whereas it's easy to critique other people.

That would be about the only comment that I'd feel comfortable debating. That is a sweeping statement there tegan, and is false in my opinion. Primarily this is false because you are not taking into consideration the quality of light producing the shadow or edge detail. Softer light produces softer shadows and softer edge detail.

Just curious, for the second shot, I actually prefer the shot as a horizontal.

Does anyone have an opinion on it?

I think the second shot is really neat ! I would crop out the photographers shadow though. I agree that it takes away from the impact of the picture !
