Nice enough image there Raiven but I think Orton seems to work better with a busier subject.

Hi Raiven - I think there are some too much overexposed parts. But don't hear at MA (a man can't handle roses ;-)) - Orton would work with it, only darker. Hope you don't mind - here is a try:

    What do you think?

I think MoinMoin is definitely in the right direction!

Yup nice attempt, not bad but the overexposed petals detract here imo. Your title is more in keeping with the subject. Ortons should have sharp and blurred elements. I only see blurred elements here.

Moinx2's version is a decent treatment and adds a hint of sharpness to the central flower but the bkgd is dark for Orton.

I agree there are too many bright areas. I think MA is correct that busier shot work because Orton should bring out the detail(sharpness) in some parts(usually the darker areas) and soften the brighter bits. Moins treatment is a step in the right direction.

Orton is not a treatment that can be applied to any photo, and half the battle is getting the right image to begin with. I think this would have been a tough shot because of the stong light.
