Just a suggestion. Instead of bringing back the detail,,why don't you take it all out? More of a silouette all along the tree, the bush and even the bridge/city.
Not to sure how it would look but I've done that before.

That last one just looks washed out. I favoured the shadows.
My fave is the second one (post 6)
Ok, I said no more edits but I can not let it go. I think I found an edit that works, at least I am happy with it now.

I almost commented earlier that a blend between the frist two with some desaturation of the blues would be what I'd do ... and it looks like you've done just that. Nice!

I like the first image the best.I think it is more dramatic.
Thanks M.A. I eneded up just doing a 12% dodge on the bushes in the foreground and the city /bridge line on the original.
