VERY Cool! Both of them. Wow ... good to see you playing around like this Chantelle!
Critique ... hmmm well ... not sure the eye colour is right ... looks to aqua for your real eye colour but perhaps you were matching the cool eye makeup? Did Jen do that for you? Or did you do that yourself as well?
I think the B&W areas need a bit more contrast also perhaps. Either that or I'd add more blue to it. Not sure really ... would have to play around with it.
The mouth could be either closed more and smiling perhaps OR ... open way wider ... something cheeky or sexy etc.
I do wonder if the frame would be better in colour.
In the 2nd shot I think it's a little too washed out so I'd consider going totally B&W with that one. Also, for such a closeup you should clean up the whites of your eyes too. Apart from that I like it!
Done them all by myself, including make-up. I have the camera on a tripod, it was hard to take photos of myself, guessing where I was to be. Took me about an hour to do my make-up, then another hours for the shots.
The frame is black anyway, and yea you're right about the black and white areas, they could do with more contrast.
The second one is supposed to be really white, im supposed to look pale. It doesn't look washed out on my screen.
I just meant the colour in your face looked washed out/pale ... not the whole shot. So therefore you achieved what you wanted.
Yep, that means I got what I was after lol
chantelle these are fantastic!! really creative and fun. Well done!!!

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
Hey, NICE work. I like both of these. No real points to critique, but a couple of small niggles: 1. On the upper one, perhaps dial back your key light about 1/3 stop? The highlights on your cheeks and the left (viewer's left) side of the frame are just a tad bright. 2. In the lower one, perhaps touch up the blood vessels in your right eye? They're a little distracting. I'd like to see a second one done like the upper one, but reversed; that is with the inside of the frame done as a mono and the exterior in colour.
Nice work, Chantelle! The small things that need fixing are already mentioned. I especially like the second high key portrait.
Really loving these. Looks like you had a great time and I love the results. My favourite is the one with the frame.
Thanks everyone
