    Default An Attempt

I been very busy reorganizing, had to get a new desk which is horrible moving everything, anyway as usual I digress, my office, my backup drives and have a list of things I am trying to get by next Monday, but I need a break. So I came across this photo and an idea hit me and wanted to do some experimenting in PS. Anyway go to town on it.

If you mean the one at Queen Street E. and Don River than yes. If it is another one than that one, then no lol.

I'm a bit confused here AcadieLibre. Is this your photo, or a photo taken in 1904? Or a photo made to look like it was done in 1904?

    thx

It is MY photo, that was added in when I was in PS, just thought that script with a name and date would make it look dated. I have several photos of that bridge but for some reason that particular one was calling out to be aged, so I obliged. I removed all the street car wires, a huge crane that was on the left, hydro wires and anything else I thought would look as it was modern in any fashion. And I am never that confused, just may appear that way lol. It was shot in B&W and may have had some significance in my choice to attempt to age it to look like an early 1900's photo. I just bought a week or so ago an Intuos3 pen tablet, and really been wanting to play with it. This was my chance. So I would like to know where the mistakes are, what I did wrong, what I may have done right. It is my first try at it so if it gets trashed I won't be disappointed. I did the aging from memory so I knew there was a good chance at a miss.

    Edit:

This photo was inspired two photos from Edward Steichen. I am not sure if I can post them here but I will link to them at my Flikr account.

The first photo is the highest selling photo ever, somewhere around 2.5 million US dollars. The first photo was shot in 1904 and the second I think 1905. And it was from memory as I said, just for info for those unfamiliar with photography from that period.

i really like the feel of the colors. im not sure if youve 'missed' it on the aging or not, as from a real photographers p.o.v, but i think its great - the fact that marko had to ask if it was done in 1904 should be a good thing too right?! i think the clouding around the edges has a great effect!
the only thing that stood out immediately to me, was the tilt. i think if you straighten it a touch, and maybe crop a bit on the sides to remove the dark edge of the building on the left, and match it up on the right. but thats just me.
    good one!

You mismatched the aging. That is a perfect example of 1960's cross processing.

Was Jilly's still on the other side of the bridge in 1904?
