A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
Just looking closer. No it doesn't work really. The narrow DOF gives away that this is a miniture and taken close up. No way at zoom would the parked cars be out of focus. The focus goes out too quickly behind the buildings as well.
I think you'd get a better result by shooting wider, with more DOF and then selectively blurring to create a more realistic DOF to mimic what would realy happen. If you go take a similar photo for real you'll see what I mean.
This is a miniature? It's quality is quite amazing at this resolution. Especially the person walking on the sidewalk.
I agree that the DOF feels doesn't seem right though.
Isn't this a fake tilt/shift and therefore a pic of real sized stuff that now looks like a miniature?
Either way the DOF is not quite right, but pretty close and would pass casual scrutiny.
