I've written a book and I could use some opinions on the title - help please

Hi members,


I could use a bit of brainstorming or confirmation help.
This is the first public place that I'm posting that i have finished writing an ebook on understanding basic exposure in photography.. and I'm stuck on a title.

The ebook is 85 pages long and explains basic exposure in a loose conversational way (covering the basics of the aperture, shutter speed and ISO dance )... and its core
theme is that you are free to be creative once you understand exposure.

The title is a pretty important part of any ebook as is the cover. I've having it designed for me because I'm crap at that.

I'm attaching 2 images with a title idea that i had and the most basic of a mockup for that first idea. I'm also attaching the original image. But now I'm not super crazy
about the idea...so I've come up with some others. I think I'd like to use this pic though.

The original title idea is/was The F in F-stop is not a Four letter word

Titles needs to be catchy so I started thinking in different directions - yeah, I guess I went in 'that' direction for awhile. So I guess what I'm asking is do any of these ideas below work for you - are they too crass? Do they do with the image?

Anyone else have suggestions that spring up with this picture?

I think I lean toward what you have on the cover concepts there.

Marko: An intriguing problem. Re the term F-stop or f-stop, I did a quick scan of my two Pentax and Nikon manuals and they do not seem to use the term very much actually they seem to shy away from it. Maybe to hard to explain in the world of seamless f-stops. Anyway what I wonder is, would the average person who would benefit from your book even know his camera has them. Re the innuendo titles, suggest you take care not to turn off a market segment. If we were back in the film days I could see your F-stop title and superb background photo being of interest to someone who may have bought a photo mag or two - in other words some one who knows he/she doesn't know stuff. Comments hopefully meant to help, not irritate - been down the editing lane, it can be s....y.

If it was me, I would have gone with "War & Peace" or "To Kill a Mockingbird", but I do like the title

I would like to take a little while to think about the options above, but I had some thoughts while I was out running and thought I would jot them down before the sweat dried and i forgot what they were.

In my opinion the title should be something that will come up easily in search engines (so the subtitle is a great idea). If you are looking to do some followup books (and why wouldnt you), something that will tie the set togther.

For example the thought I had could be along the lines of the "yourself" books

expose yourself - the difinitive guide to taking control of your cameras exposure The blurb could contain somthing along the lines of :Expose yourself to the joys of creative exposure

The follow up could be

Compose Yourself - the difinative guide to creative compostition in photography The blurb could be : By taking time and composing yourself you can create amazing images- this book will show you how

If people like the first they will be more likely to buy the second if they can see it is the same format, author etc (just look at the photofocus empire)

Like I said, it was just a thought I had running. Feel free to develop these ideas any way you like.

Interesting take BF - not sure you're 100% serious tho.

Here's a few more ideas based on suggestions and some wine....yup I got into the conquer theme.

- Get creative and expose yourself (It could lend itself to further books...like Get creative and Compose yourself)

- Expose and be free

- Show your camera who's boss

- Take control of your camera's exposure

- Conquer camera exposure and be free

- Conquer exposure and make spectacular images

- Conquer exposure and make stunning images

- Conquer exposure and make creative images

- You are so much smarter than your camera

- Conquering camera exposure

- Take control of your camera
