    Default External hard drive issue

hey guys, I hope someone can share some insight here.

I have an external HD that I want to force a drive assignment to - meaning when I attach it I want it to map as an F drive. It had been doing this fairly automatically whenever I attached it (via USB), but now the OS is assigning it as a G drive and because all my catalogs are set up as F in mapping, I can't work with any of the photos in Lightroom.

Is there a way to force or change the letter assignment somehow??

Yes, when you map the drive you have the option to choose the drive letter (assuming you're using Windows)

So, basically unmap the drive and then remapping the drive with the letter you want should fix the problem.

Not sure how it's done on Vista, I'm stuck on XP and proud of it

In XP you disconnect the drive in Windows Explorer and then map the drive by right clicking on My Computer and choosing the Map Network Drive.

You have to drive the letter for reading it and if you can't find it then just go to run and type the drive, you can find the related result and after that you can use appropriate. I hope you can understand.
