Live View
I find that live view is a very convenient feature on a DSLR, when it is properly implemented by the camera manufacturer without shutter lag, black out, manual focus or other associated annoyances that apparently occur with some camera makers.
Using a 2.7" LCD screen to check focus, colour, exposure, and the histogram before you take the shot and doing sme tweaking at this point really saves on postprocessing time.

It's nice to have the option that's for sure. On the fly it takes more fiddling so it may be less spontaneous than without it. But for many applications when you do have an extra few seconds, it's great.

On the fly it takes more fiddling on a Canon, but not so on the Alpha. Of course if you make more adjustments on the camera, you have less to do in postprocessing at least in colour correction and exposure tweaking.Originally Posted by marko

I use it once in a while, it also uses a lot more battery power, so if you plan on using it may be a good idea to have a backup battery. I have it set up so when I want it I just have to click one button and its up and live.

Yes, I have 2 batteries for each camera and often shoot with more than one camera.

I like live view as well..... it's one of the things I kinda miss from my p&s days...
my d60 doesn't have it....

I find that live view is particularly good for shooting from the waist or from above the crowd, so-to-speak.

Live view is great - some of the time...

On the negative side, it is hard to hold a heavy DSLR with lens out from your body but perfectly still while you use the LCD screen to preview your shot.

just curious tegan - can you zoom in using the live view?
If so wouldn't that make it a nice tool to triple check fine focus?
