I've tried doing HDR a few times, but couldn't work out what I was doing wrong. Here's my attempt with some help from Mad Aussie, much better attempt of HDR than I tried in the past.
Let me know what you guys think? How are the colours, tones, and brightness/contrast?

I think you've achieved a nice balance; it's clearly an HDR but avoids the 'cartoon' look. In an image with such a great dynamic range, I think you've done a good job.
There is a lil halo-ing around the bottom of the lightpole (which I shouldn't bring your attention to), can you see it though? is it noticeable?
Thanks guys![]()
I like it.
of course I haven't been brave enough to try HDR yet though.
I love the sky.
I can see the halo around the lamp but it may be because I read your post first. not sure I would have noticed it otherwise.![]()

This is the view from our driveway looking west.
It was a HUGE dynamic range to deal with.
Here's another HDR I did this evening, did this one without Mad Aussie's help. What do you think?

Nice work Chantelle - Shot 2 is EXCELLENT!
Shot one looks like it could use a contrast boost in most areas except the bright clounds behind the house - which i though was a fire at first glance. I do notince the haloing but to be honest, only after you told me where to look.
