So, my local photography club held a "Trash The Dress" field trip on Monday. There were something like 10 models and 20 or so photographers (sorry I didn't actually count) and we broke up into groups and went shooting for the day. Here's a couple of shots from the day.

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
Thanks, Bambi. Rebecca and her photographer brought the hat which was a really neat prop. Here's a couple of more from the day out.

Looks like you had a fun time doing it. Do you all do this often? How does it work with more than one photographer? Do you all get equal time with the models? Just curious as I have seen a camera group from around here hold these types of events and was always curious on how they work.

Good variety and sharpness Iggy! what fun play! It's times like these where the 480 ex would come in real handy![]()

The local photography club I joined has a number of field trips throughout the year. We also do some volunteer photography for fund raisers such as the Easter Seals DropZone (last fall) and the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life (next month). This is the third or fourth year for the Trash the Dress series but the first for me.
We split up into groups of 2 or 3 photographers and one model and roamed around the city looking for locations. We had two groups merge so we had two models and 5 photographers. We mostly took turns but some photographers were a little more assertive. Since it was my first time out I kinda hung back and took a turn whenever I could. It was a challenge not to get in the other photographer's way but at the same time it was interesting to see how the others worked to get the shot they wanted.
Yes I can imagine but anywhere you learn is a good thing, also do you get to see the results from the other photographers so you can see the results of what they did? I am really reserved and not that aggressive so I think I would be more like you and would hang back in that situation also. Also any charity work is something that is really cool of the club to do.

Thanks! Yes, there were quite a few spots a good flash would have come in handy. I tried using my built-in as a fill flash in some cases with mediocre results.. more practice required!
Yes, the others have posted some of their results on Flickr. You can find them in the group pool if you are interested: Flickr: The Sackville Photography Club Pool
