I too welcome! I understood about half of what you said fangelico. I only purchased my first SB600 recently and am still trying to figure it out! I am excited for this as to read and learn!

I welcome the new LIGHTING section! I currently use 3 SB600 Nikon strobes with a D80 in commander mode. With a few light stands, an umbrella and diffuser, I get excellent results when shooting portraits. With the Nikon CLS (creative lighting system) the strobes are all wirelessly triggered and in sync. You just need to experiment with adjusting power on each strobe and placement, distance and height of the lights... you will be surprised how professional your photos will look!

Kat, in all my excitement about the new section, I just started to ramble ... I will take Marko's suggestion and upload a portrait and attempt to explain how I set it up. Also, by no means do you need multiple strobes to be successful. I have seen good results with 1 off-camera main light and just a white poster board used for a "fill" light. So stay tuned!!

This was taken with a 3 strobe setup... main strobe to camera left - fill strobe on the right thru a diffuser- hair strobe behind my daughter's head with power cut back by 1 stop

I have started to experiment with strobes too. My kit includes 5 Vivitar 283 flashes (with potentiometer mods to allow variable output), 2 stands and some umbrellas and some E-bay radio triggers for off camera capability. I also bought a Styrofoam modeling head which I painted and put a Halloween wig on (my family hide when the camera comes out). Here is an early attempt at some dramatic lighting with some PP practice too.
