So true. I think I can relate to all of them.
eh, I'm cranky today (still have this frigging cold) and I think this guy's perspective is off. he takes things too seriously and makes something out of nothing. the off limits thing I can see, but depressing? too expensive? traps he willingly falls into it seems to me. time consuming? conflicted for nothing. color managment? seriously. color management. I think he had 9 things and couldn't find a 10th.
oh and get off my lawn!
My, my. I hope you are feeling better soon. The rest of us might not survive otherwise.
I identified with most of what he said though to varying degrees. I also think you are right, I'm sure he stretched to make sure he had 10.
oh that was nothing.
see, I don't understand the people who have a hobby and then bitch about it. Stop doing it if it's so awful. No I don't think everything is perfect, but if you get into something you have to take the 'good' with the 'bad'. It's all perception. Cost of storage? Really? That's what's getting you down? Shoot film. Oh wait, that costs money, too. Gee, really? This isn't free? Oy vey. People like him just suck the air out of a room and I got enough of that already, I don't need him to kill the joy of photography, too. No one's forcing anyone to do it so cut the crap.
yeah, I'm cranky, but it's stuff like this that makes me nutty. It's a HOBBY. Love it or leave it. It's fun. Can't anyone remember fun anymore?
Ok. I'll stop.
I'm mostly better now. I did 4 miles and only had one hacking coughing fit. See...that's positive! Oh and I wrote a rebuttal - http://wickeddarkphotography.com/201...t-photography/
I think it was meant to be taken in the spirit of humour, and as such I think we can all relate to each of his points. It is a sort of "Don't you hate it when" thing. Don't you hate it when you notice a particularly beautiful scene and you are dreaming about what great photo it would make, but someone honks and jars you out of your reveille? Don't you hate that? (It's not the dreaming you hate it's the being woken part, you hate.) As for colour mangement, if you do a lot of printing, then yeah it can be a bit of a *B* and I don't know how many times I have loaded a photo on the web in RGB colour space and then had to delete it and replace it with a photo converted to sRGB because I forgot to convert it and the colours were all wrong. :(
you have a point, but I said I was crabby, didn't I?
Cranky or not, your 10 things you love about photography are well thought out and expressed.
