    Default Yousuf Karsh: Industrial Images

    The McMicheal Gallery is showing

"Yousuf Karsh: Industrial Images exhibition is a culmination of Karsh’s industrial and commercial work with Ford of Canada, Atlas Steel in Welland, Ontario, and Sharon Steel in Pennsylvania, and a variety of other commercial images."

Link to the site and show details are here. Something I will be seeing for sure and I think it is a show anyone who is into photography in any varying degree should try and see.

Showing at the same time is Yousuf Karsh Selected Portraits

“Karshed”: Yousuf Karsh Selected Portraits presents a series of images produced from the 1940s to the 1990s of some of the most influential people that the photographer recorded over the course of his career. Undertaken as a personal initiative, Karsh made a limited number of these photographic prints that were published in two separate portfolios - the only two limited edition portfolios that Karsh produced in his lifetime."

I work in a private club, one of the rooms there is dedicated to a lady who was the first female member. She was from a historical family, was a socialite but was also considered a maverick. She won the OBE, was an alderman, worked for women's rights. While looking over the one of the photographs donated to the room, one of her when she served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps, I noticed the photographers signature -Yousuf Karsh.
