Default My 11 year old daughter wants to be a photographer

She is in Beta Club, which is an academic club that also involves the arts.

The state meet is coming up and she signed up for submission of a photographic image or images. She is very artistic when it comes to drawing, but has never really showed any interest in photography.

I am going to let her use my Canon T1i and a midrange lens (Tamron 2.8 24-50, or what ever it is).

She has zero knowledge of composition. I plan to let her shoot in auto or AV. She is pretty bright and will quickly pick up on compsition and understand basic exposure using AV.

I am just wondering if I should just print from the camera with simple adjustments in Canon software or show her a few tricks in Lightroom.

Lol, she will probably do a few crazy edits but that is how you learn. LR means never having to say you are sorry. Nothing is permanent.

LR Killer Tips has been taken over by Scott and RC, so lots of new content including a new show.

Funny you should chime in on this thread JAS, we were just browsing your Flickr for examples of composition.

Right now, she is walking around the house, just focusing on rule of thirds and leading lines

I taught her simple composition, leading lines, and rule of thirds. The nI sent her around the house (its raining) with my T1i in A-Dep and the pop up flash.

Here are two of her good ones
