    Default Should I hang on to my 300 f4?

    I conducted a backyard test. Took the same image with both lenses, with the 300 f4 (@ 5.6) and then with the 200-500 set at 300mm wide open @ f5.6. Minimal post processing done. What do you think? Here they are, side by side: (click to see the original)

    First one look way better

    You really work often to carry the two zoom ( i know one is not a zoom but you get it ) ? Or really work often at these range ?
    Sell the second lens and keep the first !

    I don't see it as a huge difference but the prime does seem a bit sharper and a bit brighter. You have to decide if it's a big enough difference to you if you want to keep carrying it around.
